The 2013 Acura TSX is a really fun car to drive. It’s sleek, sporty style, powerful engine, and fuel efficiency make it a great city-driving car without breaking the bank. Starting at under $34,000 CDN, you can’t go wrong with this well-built, easy-to-drive, mid-size sedan.

Under the hood is a 2.4L four-banger engine. Not enough power? Upgrade to the 3.5L V-6 and the Acura TSX really does have some get-up-and-go! In 2013 the TSX underwent a number of improvements in the engine compartment which all directly improved fuel economy. Even with all the improvements, the TSX will have you in-and-out of traffic and up the steep hills with ease and confidence the moment you touch the gas pedal.

On the outside, the TSX is easy to look at. The lines give it a feeling of speed and agility, just like it handles on fast, tight corners. The 17” aluminum-alloy wheels, chrome trim, and fog lights all add up to a sporty design. It screams city style with a touch of class, in a comfortable, yet easy-going kind of way.

The heated leather racing seats make you feel like your at the controls of a NASCAR, and the manual transmission will have you shifting through all six gears at lightning speed with comfort and ease. The headrests are perfectly positioned to sit-back, relax, and focus on the curves ahead. Open up the sunroof and turn-up the music from the steering wheel controlled entertainment system and you’ll be set to hit the long highway on your next adventure across town or across the country.

The TSX does come with BlueTooth integration for wireless telephone connectivity and has USB integration, it does lack the touch-screen driver experience package other vehicles in its class are now equipped with. It’s a small detail, but considering the great value, it’s not something to dwell over.

Long distance running in the winter poses a lot of challenges for runners; not only do you have to dress for a variety of cold and wet weather elements, but you also have to protect yourself from the harmful and strong UV rays.

Getting around town or going on a long road trip, you want a ride that is safe, good on gas, and fun to drive. If you’re looking for your next vehicle, check out the 2013 Ford Escape SE.

The interior is extremely comfortable and built for driver comfort and safety. The steering wheel is equipped with controls for Bluetooth and radio/music, to cruise control and dashboard navigation, meaning the hands never have to leave the wheel. The driver also has audio control for hand-free activation of smartphones synced with the Microsoft MyFord navigation system.

The seats are particularly well designed. The 2013 Ford Escape is one of the few vehicles on the market today with an appropriately positioned headrest. The heated black leather driver seat is adjustable from almost every direction, including lumbar support.

The interior cabin is spacious and has seating for five. The entire roof seems to open up entirely when the giant panoramic power sun/moon roof is completely open. There is even a large stow area at the back, which can be opened and closed from the remote fob.

It’s pretty good on gas too, thanks to the 1.6L eco-boost engine. In the city, it’s relatively good on gas, while on the highway it is as efficient as possible. And just because it’s “eco”, doesn’t mean it doesn’t come with power. This SUV has all the get-up-and-go power you’d expect from a traditional six cylinder engine, only this one gets way better gas millage.

It’s an easy drive too, with the six speed, select-shift automatic transmission. Choose to drive as a regular automatic, or take control on winter roads or pulling heavy loads by shifting into manual transmission mode with just the flick of a switch.

The exterior is very sporty, with roof rails, heated mirrors and sporty 17” wheels. The tinted windows offer both privacy and temperature control from the hot sun. The SE edition comes with a tonneau cover and perimeter alarm.

The 2013 Ford Escape SE is currently retail priced at $35,949. Stop in to your local Ford dealer to take one for a test drive. Check out the Titanium Edition for even more features including park assist and safety cruise control.

“Love ‘em!” That’s the first thing I said when I ripped open the courier package to find BARUP, the latest collection of men’s underwear for Fall 2012.

Available in trunk and brief styles, the four differernt colour combinations are striking. The boldest, and my personal favourite combination is the bright red and electric blue. They’ll leave you feeling wild and sexy!

The 1.5” waistband has a brand new design. The designers have used classic stars and the kangaroo to play up their Australian designed and manufactured symbolism. The aussieBum logo appears front-and-centre in vivid blue against the red and white band.

BARUP is made from 89% Pima cotton and 11% elastane. Although they are extremely well made with quality materials and workmanship, for longest life, wash on a gentle cycle in cold water and hang dry.

Overall, they are extrmely comfortable and can be worn for a full day or for a night out with the boys. As with most of the aussieBum cuts, the trunk is the most comfortable fitting; I find the briefs feel awkward after a few hours.

Bursting with intense aromas of rhubarb and black cherry, with hints of mocha and vanilla, Apothic Red is a full-body red blend that has recently been released for the first time in Canada.

The Apothic 2010 California Red Blend has syrah, zinfandel, merlot and cabernet sauvignon grapes, all 100% grown, harvested and processed in California. The result is a velvety modern twist with a smooth old world finish.

After fermentation the release was bottled and allowed to age for two months, prior to being shipped for distribution. The 13% alcohol/vol wine is now available at most BC Liquore Stores for $15.95.

The release is perfect timing, now that the cool, wet fall weather is settling in, and hearty, homemade dinners of roast beef and stew are being prepared, which pair perfectly with this wine.

The most popular style in the Saxx Underwear 2012 line-up is the Pro Elite boxer briefs. The classic mid-length underwear is all about function and performance for guys on the go.

Made of 90% polyester and 10% spandex, the material will form to your body’s every movement. Ideal for high-energy sports and activity, this underwear will let moisture breath right through, keeping you relatively dry.

Comfort wise, they aren’t made to be worn all day at the office, or going out for a night on the town. The function over fashion underwear are ideal if you’re running, at the gym or playing soccer with the guys, and are a big step above other athletic brands like Under Armour.

When it comes to the small car category, the 2012 Ford Focus Titanium is at the top of its class. With eye-catching design, incredible fuel economy, and an enjoyable driving experience, the Ford Focus Titanium will keep any tech geek happy, and an affordable price.

The 2012 edition comes in both four-door sedan and five-door hatchback. The Titanium edition is the top range of Ford’s line-up and the Focus doesn’t disappoint.

The exterior has clean lines and a great aerodynamic shape. The 18” aluminum wheels and tinted windows make the car scream sporty. Under the hood is the all-new 2.0 litre, direct injection four-cylinder engine with Ti-VCT, making it the equivalent of a six-speed power-shift (that means it has some get-up-and-go). An exterior sport packaged can also be added on the 2012 model.

Heated leather-trimmed seats and a power moon roof are just the start of the interior features. There’s no more need to mess around with finding the keys in the dark; the push-button start is a fun and faster way to get in and go.

The navigation and technology is what sets the Titanium edition apart from any other small car on the market. The hands-free MyFord Touch system connects the driver with text-to-voice, HD radio, iTunes tagging, voice-activated navitation and Wi-Fi capability. Contrary to belief, the system does not need to download and sync to your smartphone – it connects wirelessly through Bluetooth connection every time you get into the car. Although it’s not perfect, the Sync system usually reconnects back and automatically picks up where you left off.  The stereo is by Sony and it’s pretty decent for a small-car – they even throw in a sub-woofer in the back!

Another great driving feature is the active parking assist. Most people aren’t great at parallel parking to start with. Using the parking assist, the system calculates and automatically stears the car automatically. All the driver needs to do is control the accelerator and brake pedals, for a perfect parallel park every time.

Some tips for car buyers, if you like the surfer / wind-blown hair look, drive with the windows down; this car has serious air flow with the windows down driving over 50km/h; alternatively, just turn on the air conditioner to cool down. Also, the drivers seat doesn’t tilt back to give a true feeling of driving  a sports car, and there is also no lumbar support.

If you really want to see if you are an eco-friendly driver, navigate to the EcoMode on the dashboard. The more eco-friendly you drive, the more leaves you will earn. Poor driving habits including fast acceleration, heavy braking, and poor anticipation will quickly reduce your score.

It’s a fun, speedy and cute car to drive, especially if you’re into gadgets and want to look cool on a budget.

Commuters in the Fraser Valley can now enjoy a stress-free trip to downtown Vancouver each morning instead of battling the morning commute. The solution, the Pacific Commuter Club, was inspired by the new Google Bus.

Owners Darian Kovacs and Chris Geoghegan wanted to re-create a similar experience as Google employees receive – luxury travel coaches that let you get ready and work while on your way to work.

The Pacific Commuter Club members receive complimentary WiFi, shared kitchen and bathroom and a leather reclining chair with tray table. Annual members will receive reserved seating, Car2Go membership for getting around downtown Vancouver and a subscription to the Globe and Mail

The 40-seat buses currently depart from Langley to downtown and return in the evenings. Service is expected to expand out to Abbotsford as demand grows. The daily, mid-week, return commuter service started July 3.
