Christmas Cranberry Juleps

12 Drinks of Christmas – Day 12

Part of the enjoyment over the holiday season is entertaining friends and family. They love being surprised with special treats. With some simple preparation, this cocktail will certainly wow your guests and perhaps become a new holiday tradition.

  • 1 Cup of Water
  • ¾ Cup Sugar
  • 2 Fresh Orange Peels
  • 1 Cup Fresh Cranberries
  • 1 Cup Canadian Whisky
  • 8 Springs Fresh Mint

In a saucepan, heath water, sugar, orange peel and cranberries. Cook until cranberries being to pop. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Refrigerate in sterile container until cold. Strain cranberry syrup through a sieve into a sterile container, discarding solids. Store in refrigerator for up to one week.

To make, add whisky to the syrup mix. Stir well. Fill six rock glasses with ice. Pour the chilled mixture into the glasses. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

Celebrations aren’t complete without a bottle of bubbly! This Christmas season, pop open a bottle of bubbly and enjoy the magic of the holidays with friends and family. This classic holiday favourite is simple and easy to make, and is a crowd pleaser. It’s best served using a quality brut. Perfect for an afternoon open house or at evening receptions. Pairs well with cheese, fresh fruit, and nuts.

  • 0.5 oz Triple Sec
  • 2 oz 100% Cranberry Juice
  • Champagne

Pour cranberry juice and triple sec into a chilled champagne flute or wine glass. Add champagne.


Mistletoe Martini

Maybe if you and someone you have your eye on have enough of these, it could lead to a special kiss under the mistletoe. It’s a sweet and sour cocktail, perfect for an afternoon or early evening cocktail reception.

  • Juice from 1/2 Fresh Squeezed Lemon
  • 0.5 oz Simple Syrup
  • 2 oz Chilled Cranberry Steeped Tea
  • 0.5 oz Orange Juice
  • 2 oz Vodka

Fill a martini shaker half full of ice. Add all ingredients. Shake for 20 seconds. Strain into a sugar rimmed martini glass.

The perfect cocktail for a festive holiday party. It’s certain to impress with translucent red liquid and red sugar rim.

  • 2 oz Raspberry Vodka
  • 1 oz Cranberry Juice
  • 1/4 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz Honey Syrup

Fill a martini shaker half full of ice. Add vodka, juices and honey syrup (one part honey and one part hot water whisked together). Shake for 20 seconds. Pour into a martini glass rimmed with red sugar crystals. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

What makes Santa happy throughout the year? Mrs. Clause! This holiday season, you can enjoy a lil’ Mrs. Clause too. Get your mind out of the gutter!

  • 2 oz raspberry vodka
  • Dash of Creme de Menthe
  • 2 1/2 oz Cranberry Juice

Fill a martini shaker with ice. Add in vodka, creme de menthe and cranberry juice. Shake hard for about 20 seconds. Pour into a martini shaker rimmed with crushed candy cane.


Affair to Forget

Happy Seattle and New York Pride! Hopefully you’re having a great weekend. If you woke up this morning regretting your actions last night, I suggest you have one of these cocktails… and make it an affair to forget.

  • 2 oz Creme de Cassis
  • 2 oz Orange Juice
  • 2 oz Cranberry Juice
  • Club Soda

Pour the first three ingredients into a glass and stir. Fill with club soda.


Miami Haze

Whisk yourself away to a summer evening on Ocean Blvd in South Beach, Miami, Florida.

  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Peach Schnapps
  • 2 tbsp Frozen Mango Concentrate
  • 1/2 oz Pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz Orange juice
  • 1/2 oz Cranberry juice

Pour all ingredients into a martini shaker half-filled with ice. Shake until the outside of the martini shaker starts to frost. Pour into a chilled martini glass.


Porn Diva

The traditional “Porn Star” in a martini twist.
  • 1 oz Raspberry Vodka
  • 1 oz Blue Curacao
  • 1 oz Sour Puss Raspberry
  • Splash Lime Juice
  • 1 oz Cranberry Juice

Add all ingredients to a martini shaker half-full of ice. Shake until the outside begins to frost. Pour into a chilled martini glass with a sugared rim.


Pineapple Dream

After a long day out in the Hawaiian plantation fields, imagine coming in to enjoy one of these sweet, tropical martinis. It’s refreshing and it’s a great drink for a warm spring afternoon with friends.

  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Malibu Rum
  • 1 oz Cranberry Juice
  • 1 oz Pineapple Juice

In a martini shaker half-filled with ice, pour all ingredients. Shake until the outside of the shaker begins to frost. Pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a slide of pineapple.


Bitter Queen

Lite and summery… Effervescent.

  • 1oz Orange Vodka
  • 1oz Raspberry Sour Puss
  • 1oz Apple Sour Puss
  • 1oz Cranberry Juice
  • Squeeze of Fresh Lime Juice

Pour all ingredients into a martini shaker half filled with ice. Shake. Pour into a martini glass. Pour into a martini glass.


Citrus Glazed Carrots

An easy and fragrant way to spice up carrots.

  • 4 cups of bite-sized carrots
  • ¾ cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup cranberries
  • ½ teaspoon dried ginger
  • 1 firm, ripe pear; peeled and sliced
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter

In a non-stick pan, combine carrots, orange juice, cranberries and ginger. Bring to boil and cook over medium heat for 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add pears, brown sugar and butter. Cook uncovered for another 2-3 minutes.

Serve immediately.


Homemade Cranberry Sauce

Making cranberry sauce from scratch is just as easy as using a can opener, but the results of making it yourself are far superior. Plus, using  fresh cranberries (or freshly frozen), means you know that there are no preservatives and you can control the sugar!

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries

In a medium pot, bring water to full boil. Add sugar and stir until it is dissolved. Add cranberries. Bring to boil, stirring constantly for 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Cranberries will pop during the cooking process.


Raspberry-tini

Raspberries are in peak-season right now – it’s time to mix up this amazing summertime martini. You can feel the true depth of this martini with the spectacular fresh raspberry flavour with hints of orange tucked away quietly in the background. The raspberry syrup really makes this drink.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Raspberry Pure
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 1 oz Cranberry Juice
  • Fresh Lime
Raspberry Pure: In a large pot, bring to full boil two cups of granulated sugar and four cups of fresh raspberries. Allow it to cook at a full rolling boil for two full minutes. Remove from heat. Strain through a food mill or fine mesh strainer, removing all the seeds and pulp so only the pure raspberry syrup remains. Raspberry syrup can be stored in the fridge for up to one week.
In a martini shaker filled with ice pour in vodka, raspberry pure, cointreau, and cranberry juice. Squeeze in fresh lime juice. Shake. Pour into a sugar-rimmed martini glass. Garnish with a slice of fresh lime.


Pink Lemonade Martini

A hot confusing mess!

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 2 oz cranberry juice
  • dash of bitters
  • Champagne

In a martini shaker filled with ice add vodka, cranberry juice and bitters. Shake well. Pour into a martini glass with a sugar rim. Top up with champagne.


Ruby Red Cosmo

Cool and refreshing, this might just become your favourite patio martini this summer!

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz cranberry
  • 1 oz grapefruit

Add all ingredients to a martini shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Pour into a sugar-rimmed martini glass. Garnish with lemon twist (optional).


Pink Cosmo Martini

A delightful twist on a old favourite.

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz cointreau
  • 1 oz cranberry juice
  • 1 teaspoon of blueberry puree
  • squeeze of fresh lime

In an ice-filled martini shaker add vodka, cointreau, cranberry juice and blueberry puree. Shake. Pour into sugar-rimmed martini glass. Squeeze in fresh lime juice and garnish with three fresh blueberries.


Crantini

A traditional crowd pleaser.

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 2 oz cranberry juice
  • club soda

In an ice-filled martini shaker add vodka and cranberry juice. Shake. Pour into sugar-rimmed martini glass. Top up with club soda.

 


Bikini Martini

A tantalizing blend of flavours that will have your tastebuds jumping!

  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz blue curacau
  • 1 oz peach schnapps
  • 1 oz cranberry juice

In a martini shaker filled with ice, shake all ingredients together. Pour into sugar-rimmed martini glass. Garnish with a slice of peach.
