Arrive on Time, in Style – HeliJet Summer Flights from $179!

When you’re traveling, sometimes you’re in a hurry, or like to treat yourself. It’s not always about the destination – it’s about the journey getting there. This summer if you have travel plans between Victoria and Vancouver, HeliJet is offering mid-week one-way flights from $179 per person!

It’s an amazing experience from the time you arrive until you arrive at your destination. Plan to arrive about 20-30 minutes before your flight time. After you check-in you can enjoy complimentary snacks and refreshments including coffee, tea, oatmeal, cookies and yogurt.

When it’s time to board, the passengers are escorted to the aircraft. It’s perfectly normal to get one of the staff to get your photo taken with the helicopter – after all, you want to document that you flew on a helicopter!

The Sikorsky helicopter is comfortable and very spacious. The pilots will take you through a quick briefing and then you’re off on your 25-minute harbour-to-harbour scenic journey. Remember to bring your camera!

Even during inclement and most rough weather conditions, daily scheduled flights continue to operate – ensuring passengers arrive safely and on-time.

This Summer’s Must-Do in Vancouver: Helicopter Tour

If you are visiting or a local, this summer don’t miss out on a spectacular scenic helicopter tour of Vancouver and the majestic North Shore Mountains. It is this summer’s must-do attraction.

Helijet offers a wide range of tours from Grouse Mountain, downtown and Vancouver International Airport. Tours range from 8 – 20 minutes, and start from just $99 per person.

Helijet’s Coastal Scenic Tour is the best value at $179 per person for a 20 minute flight departing from the summit of Grouse Mountain in a Bell Longranger.

The journey starts off with a breathtaking up-close mountain-top tour of the major points of interest including Grouse Mountain, the Lions Peaks and Cypress Bowl. The tour continues over English Bay, around downtown Vancouver, past Stanley Park and over North Vancouver back to Grouse.

The pilots are very informative too – ensuring passengers are aware of all the safety systems. If passengers are not familiar with the area they will note points-of-interest along the route and offer to take photos with the helicopter pre/post trip.

Grouse Mountain tours are offered on a first come – first served basis and are available May to September – 7 days a week. Tours are weather dependant and based on aircraft availability. Grouse Mountain Super Skyride is not included in the tour price.

For more information visit www.helijet.com or call 604.270.1484 or toll free, 1.800.987.4354.

Canada Day Recap

Thursday, July 1 people across Canada came together to celebrate our national holiday, Canada Day. I proudly sported my Team Canada Olympic jersey, Canada flags and a Canada flag temporary tattoo to show my passion for Canada.

My friend Jay and I spend the day at Canada Place, the gateway to Canada from the Pacific, located on Burrard Inlet in downtown Vancouver. It is home to the Pan Pacific Hotel, the cruise ship terminal, IMAX Theatre, the Vancouver Convention Centre, and the Port of Vancouver and Canada Place Corp corporate offices.

There were many activities including live musical performances, street performers, and demonstrations by the Canadian Armed Forces and Navy.

At 12:00pm, noon, the heritage horns rang out and the crowd proudly belted out, O’ Canada.

The highlight for many was to see the Vancouver 2010 Olympic cauldron re-lit. The cauldron has been under construction since the close of the Paralympics so a permanent structure could surround the massive art sculpture. The base of the cauldron is now surrounded by a pond.

In the evening I had the pleasure to watch the fireworks from the Helijet landing pad, located on the east side of Canada Place.

Although the weather was cool and threatened to rain, it was a very enjoyable day.
