Seven Great Benefits of Drinking More Water

Over half of our bodies are made up of water, and most people don’t drink enough water. Carrying with you a water bottle is a great way to increase your daily water intake and is an easy way to stay hydrated.

Here are seven benefits of drinking more water each day:

  1. Weight loss
  2. Headache cure
  3. Healthy skin
  4. Digestion
  5. Cleansing
  6. Energy
  7. Heart Healthy

A large, stainless steel water bottle can go with you on your daily workout at the gym, it’s easy to take to work and meetings, or in the car while doing errands.

Having a bottle of water with you all the time is a simple way to remind and encourage you to drink more water each day.

10 Reason’s Why I Decided to Run a Marathon

This spring I ran the BMO Vancouver Marathon. I was recently asked what would make me want to run a marathon. Here are my 10 reasons:

  1. I had ran two half marathon’s before without any training and had pretty good finish times; I figured if I actually put some effort into training I could probably run a full. How much harder could it be?
  2. My dad has ran a full-marathon in his early 50’s… so why couldn’t I run one in my early 30’s? He was my motivation to continue to train and of course run the race… I couldn’t disappoint my dad once I had made the commitment. Now that I’ve completed the run, we have something in common to bond over that only him and I in our family can share.
  3. My dad kept telling me to train for a 4h 00m or 4h 15m finish time… I needed a challenge, so I trained with 3h 30m. When I got injured I re-evaluated my goal to be a) finish and b) 3h 45m. I ended up completing in 3:39:52.
  4. BMO enrolled me in the Running Room full marathon training clinic – the program was awesome. Met some great people and it kept me motivated to train… even when I was injured at the end.
  5. My social media followers loved hearing all the great tips and advice. I’ve become a go-to resource for people looking for running tips. I inspired many people to get active and join the running community.
  6.  I am part of an exclusive club and can now call myself a marathon runner.
  7. My friends supported me along the way – I had given up a ton of social freedom to put into training and I had to put a lot of personal relationships and friendships on hold while I trained. My friends knew and understood that this was something I had to do for myself and they respected me for it. Now that it’s over, many of my friends are excited that I have a bit more free time again – well for now.
  8. In the last few weeks leading up to the run I was injured and I wasn’t sure I could physically run the race. Part of the motivation was that I had been sharing my training for months on social media, so there were a lot of people who had expectations for me to finish and to see the results.
  9. Knowing I would see familiar friends and faces along the race-route. It’s really exciting and energizing. Just seeing them along the race route was incredible and motivating to get to the finish line.
  10. I knew when I crossed the finish line there would be the coveted finishers medal, one of my closest friends who encouraged my passion for running, and a big bottle of champagne to celebrate my victory!

My dad was supposed to run the full marathon this year with me, but because of some health reasons he couldn’t do it this year. I guess this means that I’m going to have to run another marathon so my dad and I can run together.
