Mother’s Day High Tea at Rowena’s

This weekend is Mother’s Day, and every mother deserves a day of pampering. This year, instead of the traditional brunch, spa treatment or hanging basket, treat your mom to a High Tea service at a relaxing English country estate. Rowena’s Inn, located on the Harrison River in the Fraser Valley is offering high tea for just $19.95 per person

The tea service includes fresh-baked scones, traditional English tea sandwiches, a variety of desserts, and of course your choice of premium tea.

Tea is served in the Drawing Room of the beautifully restored English-style manor, located on the 160-acre estate. Inside the manor are elegant antique chandeliers, vases, and furnishings, including a bed owned by opera singer, Dame Nellie Melba, a piece of the banister from the original Fairmont Vancouver, and a dining room table that King George VI once sat at!

Rowena’s Inn is a 1.5 hour drive east of Vancouver and 35 minutes north of Abbotsford. Reservations for High Tea can be made by calling 1.877.796.1001.

This Valentine’s Day, surprise your sweetheart with a luxury romantic weekend getaway. The most romantic getaway in the Fraser Valley is Rowena’s Inn, located on the shores of the Harrison River. Fortunately , the family has kept the home in it’s original splendor and has filled it with beautiful Victorian antiques.

Guests at the estate are welcome to explore the grounds and local area, or just sit back and relax for the afternoon in the Drawing Room to enjoy a formal English Tea service, complete with fresh baked scones.

River’s Edge Restaurant, Harrison Mills, BC

Located just off the shores of the Harrison River at Sandpiper Golf Resort and Rowena’s Inn in Harrison Mills, BC is the River’s Edge Restaurant.

The casual West Coast dining restaurant is a natural stop for golfers after a day on the course and those on their way back from a day of skiing at nearby Hemlock Ski Resort. To start there is a full-service bar, on-tap beer, and a selection of wine available.

The menu serves a variety of fare ranging from appetizers and hamburgers, to steak and seafood. The overall quality of both the food and service were on par with a rural resort restaurant – nothing too fancy, made to order, and served with a smile.

While the cuts of meats and selection of vegetables were fresh, there was evidence some items were not prepared on premise. However, this short cut allows the restaurant to ensure a full menu can be offered year-round, even during periods of low volume.

The warm wood paneling, exposed wood beam ceiling and real wood-burning fireplace bring a welcomed natural feeling. The front side of the restaurant has French doors, which open up to a patio overlooking the golf course, river and mountains – an ideal dining spot on a warm summer evening.

The River’s Edge Restaurant is located about a 1.5-hour drive from downtown Vancouver along the Lougheed Highway, and approximately 25 minutes from Abbotsford. It is open daily, year-round for breakfast, lunch and dinner, from 8:00am – 9:00pm.
