DOXA Documentary Film Festival
From Vancouver, across Canada, and around the world; 74 screenings of documentaries appearing at five venues in Vancouver make up the 12 annual DOXA Documentary Film Festival. Held May 3 – 12, 2013, the 10-day celebration of films, panel discussions, education programs, and other events, becomes the medium of expression to look at the world through the lens.
The documentaries cover a wide variety of theme ranging including surrealism, science fiction, and narrative. Screenings will take place at the Vancouver Playhouse, VIFFʼs Vancity Theatre, The Cinematheque, Rio Theatre, and Collingwood Cinema.

Interior. Leather Bar. — James Franco’s new documentary hybrid.
I Am Divine — About the wonderful drag queen, Divine, by filmmaker Jeffrey Schwarz who’s film, Vito, screened at DOXA last year.
Fire in the Blood – A film that looks into the battle between pharmaceutical companies and access to HIV medication around the world.
Straight with You – A short film, Rated Y for Youth shorts program, Empathy: Pass It On. The film is about an 11-year-old boy as he navigates adolescence and sexuality.
God Loves Uganda – Christian missionaries. Africa. Homosexuality. It’s a powerful film.
General admission tickets are $12. Tickets can be purchased in bundles and for the numerous special events.
